Ball Square Café (once more)

One of my favorite brunch spots in Brunch Village AKA Somerville. However, I think the prices went up and that makes me sad. Brunch really shouldn’t be expensive.

Without further a due, (is that how it goes?) The avocado & tomato eggs Benedict:

Actually not my favorite of the eggs Benny- it was a little bland and I had to put salt on it. And I’m not even a salt person.

Maple Bacon Bourbon Jam

Yeah, that’s right. You read that. Maple, Bacon and Bourbon TOGETHER to make a jam.

This may not be sold in stores or a restaurant, but it sure as hell should be. A friend of mine whipped this goodie up and boy IS IT GOOD. I had to make a post about it.

Bacon Bourbon Jam close upClose enough to the monitor yet? I swear if you get a little closer, you may be able to smell its sweet smokey goodness.

It’s the perfect combination of everything you’d want and more. Sweet, salty, and smokey. We first spread it on a plain white cracker- it was good. But then, THEN, we spread some onto a chocolate shortbread cookie. Yup. AND IT WAS DELICIOUS.

You can learn how to make this fanfuckingtastic Maple Bacon Bourbon Jam by visiting my girl’s blog Michelle’s Pop Up Kitchen or by viewing her youtube video here.

Estoril Restaurant

Before attending the International Portuguese Music Awards in New Bedford, MA, we only thought it was right to have dinner at a Portuguese restaurant before hand. Fall River, MA is full of them as well as market places and the food is SO good and fresh! So we paid a visit to Estoril Restaurant

Pictured above is what the entire table ordered and probably the most popular plate to order at any Portuguese restaurant- Bifé A Casa or Bifé A Portuguesa. It’s a deliciously huge tender sirloin steak, probably something like 12-16oz, with a fried egg, gravy on top, and fries & rice on the side (here it’s garnished with a slice of hot red pepper). All of it for only $16..not bad!

The food was so damn good that each and every one of us ate until our plates were clean. Even soaking up the gravy with their fresh Portuguese rolls…SO GOOD.

mousseOf course afterwards we HAD to get dessert. You can’t be at a Portuguese restaurant and not get dessert. My favorite, but simple dessert is the Chocolate Mousse. OMG it gets me every time. Love it. Love it even more with some fresh fruit on the side and whip cream. And following dessert you need to have coffee, you know, because after all that YOU WILL GET THE ITIS. So we each ordered a Galão- basically a Portuguese latte with sprinkled cinnamon on top…delectable!

All I can say is, when will we be visiting Fall River again!?

Posto (Mobile)

Sounds fancy right!? WELL IT IS. Fancy pizza.

I was SO excited when I found out a new spring/summer food truck schedule was coming out. For the longest time, this shitty asian food truck called “Savory Food Truck” came 3x a week. Now, Savory is GONE and this new schedule is so bomb. Hello to Summer of 2015, the summer of being broke and fat.

So after jumping for joy, I ventured outside to the truck. No line. YES. Wood fired oven- CHECK.

The menu is mostly pizza and they all sound delicioso. I ordered the Soppressata- spicy salami, mozzarella cheese, tuscan pepper, oregano, arugula, and parmesan. It was delicious as expected. And as a no-crust-pizza-eater…I ate the crust. It was perfectly cooked, yummy, warm, and soft with just the right amount of dough.

For dessert, I had a cannoli. A cannoli is a cannoli. It’s yummy and I immediately got the itis after eating it.

Next week I think I’ll order the Mushroom.

Check out Posto’s site here. Their restaurant is located in Davis Sq. Somerville.
